Detroit River Fishing Opportunities
Located between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie and bordering the U.S. and Canada, the 28-mile-long Detroit River is teeming with over 65 species of fish. Some of these include the whitefish, sturgeon, silver bass, largemouth bass, steelhead, perch, muskie and walleye. Anglers can fish from the shore or boat and local charters are available to book for guided excursions.
Belle Isle
This 982-acre recreational island park on the Detroit River is the country’s largest city island park and is a fascinating spot to explore during your stay. Settled by the French in the 1700s and designated as a relaxing getaway from city life, the island now is home to a nature center and trail, picnic pavilions, sports fields, a playground, and beach access. The Detroit Yacht Club and the Detroit Boat Club are also located here as well as the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, the Belle Island Aquarium, and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.
Hopcat
